The government has stated that the rate of obtaining National Identification Cards has increased in the fiscal year 2023/2024, where by May 2024, the National Identification Authority (NIDA) has produced a total of 21,322,098 identification cards, which is equivalent to 86% of the 24,818,138 registered citizens, with the production of identification cards continuing.
The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Daniel Sillo, said a total of 20,340,713 identification cards have already been distributed to District Registration Offices, Local Governments, Villages, and Shehias across the country, out of which, 19,139,601 identification cards, equivalent to 94%, have been collected by citizens.
