The Minister for Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, announced that the government has allocated over TZS 105 billion in the current financial year to build a large National Laboratory in Dodoma. The facility is intended to support small-scale miners by conducting research on areas rich in gold deposits.
In addition to the National Laboratory, the government plans to construct four regional laboratories. These regional labs will bring mineral research services closer to small-scale miners, ensuring they can conduct their mining activities with greater certainty and reliability.
Minister Mavunde made these remarks in Geita during the closing ceremony of the 7th National Mining Technology Exhibition. He further mentioned that part of the allocated funds will be used to purchase a helicopter for conducting mineral surveys in small-scale mining areas.
Moreover, Mavunde highlighted that revenue collections from the mining sector have surged by over 180% within the first 90 days of the current financial year, with the government collecting TZS 287 billion.
