The United States' Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) has expressed satisfaction with the Tanzanian government's operational reforms in various sectors. This was revealed during a meeting held in Dodoma between the Tanzanian government and MCC officials.
Dan Barnes, Director of Policy and Evaluation at MCC, announced that the U.S. Congress has approved continued financial support for Tanzania, citing the government's impressive performance. Barnes acknowledged that MCC is pleased with the reforms implemented, paving the way for ongoing collaboration.
Speaking at the meeting, Tanzania's Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahamoud Thabit Kombo, emphasized the importance of the longstanding, positive relationship between Tanzania and the United States. He reiterated Tanzania's commitment to maintaining and valuing this partnership.
Tanzania has benefited from MCC-funded development projects since 2005. These initiatives include the construction of the Tunduma-Sumbawanga road, rural roads in Pemba, the Tanga-Horohoro road, the Mtwara corridor roads, the expansion of Mafia airport, the upgrade of the Lower Ruvu water pumping station, and a water distribution project in Morogoro.
The MCC's continued support highlights the ongoing cooperation between the two nations in fostering sustainable development in Tanzania.
