Singer Zayn Malik has announced the postponement of the US leg of his STAIRWAY TO THE SKY tour following the tragic death of his former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne. The 31-year-old took to social media platform X on Saturday to share the heartbreaking news with his fans.
"Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I've made the decision to postpone the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour," Malik wrote. "The dates are being rescheduled for January, and I'll post them as soon as it's all set in the next few days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for your understanding."
Payne passed away on Wednesday after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Malik was set to begin his US tour this week, with his next performance originally scheduled for San Francisco on Wednesday. While Malik confirmed that the seven American shows would be rescheduled for January, he did not provide an update on his UK tour dates, which are due to kick off in Edinburgh on November 20.
This news comes as a devastating blow to fans and the music community, as Malik and Payne shared a close bond from their time together in One Direction. The tour postponement offers Malik and his team time to mourn the loss, while ensuring that fans will still get the chance to experience his music in the coming months.
