TANZANIA INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION RECRUITS VOLUNTEER TEACHERS FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP SUBJECTS.

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Tanzania Institute of Education (TET) has launched a programme to recruit volunteer teachers for entrepreneurship subjects to address the shortage of staff in schools. This initiative was announced by TET Director General Dr. Aneth Komba during a signing ceremony with Educate, an NGO that will assist in hiring teachers on a contract basis.

Dr. Komba emphasized that the agreement aims to develop TET into a research faculty for business training and to prepare Tanzanian students for international competition. It also seeks to enhance continuous teacher training, particularly in business and entrepreneurship, using modern tools aligned with current technological advancements.

The new curriculum, based on the 2024 Education Training Policy, has started for form five students and teachers in certificate courses. It stresses the importance of collaboration between the government, private sector, and development stakeholders to provide quality education.

"Educate's involvement comes at a crucial time as we implement a new entrepreneurship subject mandatory at all education levels," Dr. Komba said, highlighting positive outcomes from previous collaborations, including curriculum development and teacher training.

Kamanda Kamiri, Regional Director of Partnerships at Educate, noted the success of their partnership since 2022 and reaffirmed their commitment to preparing students with skills for life after graduation, ensuring they become a competent workforce.
