STATE MINISTER EVELYN ANITE BREAKS DOWN AS PRESIDENT MUSEVENI QUESTIONS OFFICIALS OVER CONTROVERSIAL PAYMENT.

Uganda

State Minister for Investment and Privatization, Evelyn Anite, admitted to shedding tears during a heated meeting at State House.

President Yoweri Museveni interrogated Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) officials and ministry representatives over a contentious Shs545m (approximately $145,000) 'service award' paid to UIA management for supervising the Kampala Industrial Park Development (KIPD) project.

The meeting, attended by UIA Director-General Robert Mukiza, board Chairperson Morrison Rwakakamba, and officials from the Ministry of Finance, focused on the honoraria given despite the project being only 50% complete after five years. Anite recounted her emotional reaction to accusations linking her to a fake prince from the UAE, emphasizing her commitment to integrity and transparency.

President Museveni sided with Anite, instructing that the honoraria be refunded. The meeting highlighted the president's determination to address corruption and ensure accountability in Uganda's investment sector.
