The J.P. Magufuli Bridge (Kigongo – Busisi), spanning 3.0 kilometers with an additional 1.66 kilometers of connecting road, is set to be operational by December 30, 2024. This critical infrastructure will link the Usagara – Sengerema – Geita Highway, which stretches 90 kilometers, significantly improving connectivity in the region.
The bridge is designed with a length of 3.0 kilometers and a width of 28.45 meters. It features two vehicle lanes, each 7.0 meters wide, emergency parking lanes 2.5 meters wide on each side, pedestrian paths 2.5 meters wide on each side, a central area separating different traffic directions 2.45 meters wide, vehicle guardrails 0.5 meters wide on each side, and pedestrian guardrails 0.5 meters wide on each side.
