Economists and analysts have lauded President Samia Suluhu Hassan's plans to revamp Kariakoo International Market, aimed at boosting the business environment and economic growth. The President’s directives include enhancing revenue collection and keeping the market open 24 hours.
Newly appointed ministers Dr. Selemani Jafo and Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, along with key officials, have been tasked with implementing these changes. Dr. Jafo has already begun collaborating with traders to improve business operations at Kariakoo.
Experts like Dr. Paul Loisulie and Dr. Isaac Safari highlight the need for bold actions and creative solutions to address existing challenges, such as tax compliance and the complex tax system. The Chairperson of Dar es Salaam Regional Petty Traders, Mr. Yusuph Namoto, plans to meet with the minister to address these issues, aligning with the President’s vision for market improvement.
