Tanzania Allocates Tsh 34 Billion for Presidential Museum Project in Dodoma

Tanzania's President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has announced that the government has allocated Tsh 34 billion for the construction of a Presidential Museum in Dodoma. This project aims to preserve the history and legacy of the nation's leaders.

President Samia made this announcement today in Dar es Salaam during the launch of a book titled Sokoine: His Life and Leadership.

Zanzibar President Defends Mandatory Tourist Insurance Amid Criticism

President Hussein Mwinyi of Zanzibar has robustly defended the implementation of mandatory insurance coverage for tourists entering the archipelago, citing the substantial costs borne by his government when visitors face health issues or accidents during their stay.

Effective October 1, 2024, all foreign visitors will be required to obtain inbound travel insurance from the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation, covering up to 92 days of their stay in the islands. The insurance, priced at $44 for non-residents, is an additional requirement alongside their Tanzania e-Visa.

This policy has faced backlash from tour operators and opposition politicians, who argue that it imposes an unnecessary financial burden on tourists, many of whom already possess travel insurance.

During a meeting at the Zanzibar State House on September 26, 2024, with Italy’s newly appointed ambassador to Tanzania, Dr. Mwinyi emphasized that the new insurance policy aims to protect both tourists and the government.

"The introduction of travel insurance for tourists is designed to strengthen the tourism sector and foster a safer, more welcoming environment for visitors, while alleviating the financial pressures on the government," said Dr. Mwinyi. He elaborated that the government has been absorbing significant costs for tourists who fall ill, encounter accidents, or even pass away during their visits.

"The introduction of this insurance will ease that burden," Dr. Mwinyi affirmed, highlighting the necessity of the policy in supporting the sustainability of Zanzibar’s tourism sector.

As the government moves forward with this initiative, the focus remains on balancing visitor safety with economic considerations, aiming to ensure that both tourists and the local economy benefit from a robust insurance framework.

The Sengerema District Commissioner, Senye Ngaga, assured the minister that the district is committed to continuing its efforts to empower the youth through 10% loans allocated to youth, women, and people with disabilities.

Acting Director of Youth Development, Eliakim Mtawa, revealed that the Prime Minister's Office, in collaboration with UNFPA, had organized a special program for young people, where they received training in entrepreneurship, project initiation and management, life skills, and management of income-generating groups.

One of the beneficiaries, Clement Cosmas, representing the youth groups, expressed gratitude to the Sixth Phase Government for providing the equipment, which he said would help them achieve economic independence.

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to uplifting the youth through practical support, enabling them to be active participants in Tanzania’s economic transformation.

UNGA 2024 Highlights Africa’s Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Growth

The 2024 United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), themed "Leaving no one behind: Acting together for peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations," has placed Africa’s key challenges at the forefront, including climate change, economic inequality, and rapid urbanization. With over 60% of Africa’s population under the age of 25, discussions this year focus on empowering youth and women to shape the continent’s future.

Historically, UNGA has provided African nations a platform to address global issues such as poverty and peacekeeping. This year, African leaders are exploring strategies for sustainable urban growth while addressing the pressures of rural-urban migration, which has led to congestion, housing shortages, and environmental degradation in cities. Farida Yahya, President of MWFAAN, emphasizes the need for better rural infrastructure to ease the migration burden.

Public-private partnerships (PPP) are being highlighted as key to addressing these challenges. By leveraging the resources of governments, non-profits, and businesses, African nations can implement green technologies in cities. Ronald Chagoury Jr., Vice Chairman of Eko Atlantic, stresses the importance of sustainable construction, noting that resource-efficient buildings will create more resilient urban areas and bring long-term economic benefits.

As digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) reshape the world, Africa has the opportunity to leapfrog traditional development models, driving innovation and fostering inclusive, sustainable growth.

Tanzania Investment Projects Surge by Over 60%, Reaching $1.61 Billion in Q2 2024

The value of investment projects in Tanzania saw a significant boost, increasing by over 60 percent to $1.61 billion in the quarter ended June 2024, according to a new report by the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC). The agency's quarterly report revealed that this capital increase reflects a growing interest from both foreign and domestic investors, with the country registering 198 projects during the period.

This marks a substantial rise from the previous year's corresponding quarter, where TIC recorded 129 projects worth $1 billion. The report further highlighted an impressive surge in job creation, with 96,278 new employment opportunities generated, a significant jump from the 14,631 jobs created in the same period last year.

TIC Executive Director, Mr. Gilead Teri, emphasized the growing attractiveness of Tanzania as an investment destination, noting that Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) played a substantial role. "FDIs accounted for a 136.35 percent increase or $938.32 million compared to the same quarter in 2023. Domestic investments also showed strong performance, amounting to $681.48 million," he said.

He further stressed the importance of tackling domestic challenges and expanding investment opportunities, encouraging local entrepreneurs to take advantage of the available incentives. "We continue to prioritize addressing domestic challenges, expanding investment opportunities, and encouraging local entrepreneurs to leverage available incentives," Teri said.

The ongoing national investment promotion campaign and international roadshows have played a key role in attracting both foreign and local capital.

The report also detailed that the manufacturing sector attracted the highest amount of investments, totaling $636.84 million, followed by commercial building projects ($251.71 million), human resources ($112 million), transportation ($91 million), and tourism ($62 million).

This impressive growth in investment projects is seen as a testament to Tanzania’s increasing appeal as a stable and attractive market for both foreign and domestic investors, further supporting the country’s broader economic development goals.

Joel Embiid Signs $193 Million Extension with the 76ers, Aiming for NBA Title

Already an NBA MVP and Olympic gold medalist, All-Star center Joel Embiid has committed to chasing his first NBA championship with the Philadelphia 76ers, signing a $193 million contract extension. Embiid, 30, hopes to remain a Sixer for the rest of his career, expressing his deep connection to the city.

“Philadelphia is home,” Embiid wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of him signing the contract with team owner Josh Harris. “I want to be here the rest of my career. I love this community and everything you’ve given me and my family... There is a lot more work to do. You guys deserve a championship.”

The seven-time All-Star and 2022-23 NBA MVP, who has five All-NBA Team honors and three All-Defensive Team nods, will have a player option for the 2028-29 season under the terms of the new deal. This extension follows Embiid’s 2021 $196 million contract and reinforces his long-term future with the franchise.

Philadelphia also secured major deals this offseason, with Paul George signing a four-year, $212 million contract, and Tyrese Maxey rewarded with a five-year, $204 million extension. Together, the Sixers' "Big Three" — Embiid, George, and Maxey — are positioned to compete for an NBA title, as the team looks to dethrone the Boston Celtics, the reigning champions.

However, Embiid’s journey has been marked by challenges, particularly injuries that have limited his availability. Despite this, his skill set has cemented him as one of the best big men in NBA history. Over 433 games, he has averaged 27.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game, ranking first in Sixers’ history for scoring average and third with eight 50-point games.

Originally from Cameroon, Embiid’s path to the NBA was unconventional. Initially a soccer player, Embiid turned to basketball after being encouraged by fellow Cameroonian NBA veteran Luc Mbah a Moute. He eventually moved to the U.S. to pursue his basketball career, first attending Montverde Academy in Florida, followed by a brief stint at Kansas University.

Now, with his legacy in Philadelphia solidified, Embiid and the Sixers are focused on their ultimate goal — bringing an NBA championship back to the city for the first time since 1983.

Mysterious Radio Signal from 8 Billion Years Ago Reaches Earth

In a groundbreaking discovery, a mysterious radio signal known as FRB 20220610A has reached Earth after an 8 billion-year journey through the cosmos, making it one of the oldest and most powerful fast radio bursts (FRBs) ever detected.

This rare signal, originating from a distant galaxy, has provided scientists with a unique opportunity to peer into the early universe. The detection has ignited global interest among astronomers, as the implications of such a signal are still being unraveled.

Researchers utilizing the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) have successfully traced the signal's origin to its home galaxy, but the precise nature and cause of the burst remain unclear. FRBs, which are extremely brief and intense bursts of radio waves, often originate from galaxies billions of light-years away, and while many theories have been proposed—ranging from neutron stars to black hole activity—the true source of these signals continues to be a topic of intense study.

This signal is especially significant not only because of its age but also because it offers an opportunity to study the conditions of the universe when it was still relatively young. Scientists are now examining what this signal reveals about cosmic events that occurred billions of years ago, potentially unlocking new insights into the structure and evolution of the universe.

California Enacts Law to Protect Actors from Unauthorized AI Replicas

California has made a significant move in regulating the use of artificial intelligence by outlawing the creation of AI-generated replicas of an actor’s likeness or voice without permission, addressing a major concern in the entertainment industry.

Governor Gavin Newsom signed two bills into law, AB 1836 and AB 2602, which protect both living and deceased individuals from unauthorized AI manipulation. These laws extend the protections that SAG-AFTRA members secured during last year’s strike, marking a crucial step in safeguarding performers' rights.

Previously, exceptions allowed AI to digitally replace performers in films and TV shows without needing consent from the actors or their estates. With this new legislation, any creation of an actor's replica will require a contract with explicit consent, closing a loophole that left many performers unprotected.

Earth to Gain Temporary Second Moon as Asteroid 2024 PT5 Enters Orbit

Nonetheless, this event provides scientists with a unique opportunity to study near-Earth objects and the dynamics of asteroid capture, offering valuable insights into these transient visitors to our planet's vicinity.

Halle Berry Taps into Maternal Instincts for New Horror Film 'Never Let Go'

Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry returns to the horror genre with her role in Alexandre Aja's *Never Let Go*. Drawing upon her personal experiences as a mother, Berry was attracted to the film's exploration of generational trauma, a theme that resonated deeply with her.

"That's what interested me about it," Berry said. "It's not just a psychological thriller or a horror film. It's really about the cycle of generational trauma and how if we don't sort of get healed, we just pass it along and along."

The film's dark and intense subject matter presented a challenging acting process for the cast. However, Berry's co-stars embraced the complexity of their roles. "I do love the challenge," said Anthony B. Jenkins, who plays the role of Berry's character's son. "It's not really just about a thriller. It's not really just about a family trying to stay away from the bad. It's really about the love of the family."

*Never Let Go* is set to premiere in most cinemas in late September, with additional releases in countries like Brazil and Spain in October, and Turkey in December.

President Diomaye Dissolves Senegal's National Assembly Amid Rising Tensions

President Bassirou Diomaye has dissolved Senegal's National Assembly following weeks of escalating tensions between the executive branch and the opposition-controlled Parliament. While this move aligns with the president's supporters' wishes, it has sparked widespread debate.

Local observer Aïssatou Diallo suggests the dissolution serves the president’s interests but questions if it addresses the country's priorities. Supporters like Seydou Sow argue it's a legal and necessary step given the Assembly's current misalignment with the president's agenda. In contrast, the opposition views it as a political maneuver, expressing concerns about the rapid organization of elections and potential legal oversights.

Opposition MP Moussa Diakhaté criticized the president’s push for elections within 60 days, citing unresolved issues with the sponsorship law and lack of consultation with the Constitutional Council.

With legislative elections set for November 17, Senegal faces an uncertain political future. The opposition aims for power-sharing but may struggle in Senegal’s winner-takes-all system. Political expert André Bakhoum notes that fragmented opposition lists could benefit the government if the new majority holds after March 2024.

As both sides prepare for a fierce electoral contest, the country's political direction remains uncertain.

Secretary-General of TEC, Fr. Dr. Charles Kitima, Calls for Unity Among Political Leaders

In a gesture of unity, the Secretary-General of the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), Fr. Dr. Charles Kitima, brought together and introduced three prominent political leaders to the congregation. The leaders were CCM Secretary-General Emmanuel Nchimbi, CHADEMA Vice Chairman Tundu Lissu, and CHADEMA Secretary-General John Mnyika. During this introduction, Fr. Kitima took the opportunity to speak briefly about each individual, stressing the repeated message, "You are all brothers, live in love." He urged them to take the values of the Gospel and spread love within their respective political parties.

This event took place today, Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam during the climax of the 5th National Eucharistic Congress. Thousands of Catholic faithful attended, led by the President of the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), Bishop Wolfgang Pisa.

Fr. Kitima shared a personal anecdote, saying, "In 2017, I went to Nairobi to visit a patient from the Singida Diocese (Tundu Lissu) who had been shot for reasons we still do not know. I found him lying down and offered my condolences. He thanked me in Kinyaturu and asked how he could forgive someone he didn't know. In Kinyaturu, he told me, 'Father, God is present; I have witnessed His existence.' That's Lissu, and I won't give him the floor because I know politicians might start exchanging words right here."

He also noted, "Don't forget that Nchimbi studied with Father Urasa at Uru Seminary, so seminary morals should be taken into the political realm. Mnyika aspired to be like Father Ruwa'ichi and took quite a long time to get married—he married this year, can you believe it? He also studied at Maua Seminary, so the prayers of Saint Francis are within him. That's why even on that day in Mbeya when he was about to be beaten, he didn't fight back but said, 'They're killing me,' and was saved. You are all brothers, so take the values of the Gospel to the political parties."

The gathering emphasized the role of faith and the Church in promoting peace and reconciliation within society, calling upon leaders to lead by example in embodying the principles of love and unity in their political endeavors.

A 59-year-old interior designer has drawn attention after purchasing a $395,000 oceanfront home on Cape Cod, despite warnings that the property is at risk of falling into the ocean. Originally listed for $1.195 million, the home’s price was drastically reduced due to its location just 25 feet from a rapidly eroding cliff.

The buyer, undeterred by the danger, explained that life is too short to pass up such a unique opportunity, even if the home's future is uncertain. Coastal experts have cautioned that parts of Cape Cod are losing over three feet of coastline annually. While aware of these risks, the new homeowner remains unfazed, embracing the potential impermanence of his seaside retreat.

French League Orders PSG to Pay Mbappé €55 Million in Unpaid Wages

The French league's legal commission has ruled that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) must pay Kylian Mbappé €55 million ($61 million) in unpaid wages, following the striker's claim for three months’ salary and a portion of a loyalty bonus. The decision comes after Mbappé, who recently joined Real Madrid on a free transfer, rejected a mediation offer in the dispute with his former club.

PSG disputes the ruling, stating that under an agreement made when Mbappé was sidelined ahead of the 2023-24 season, he had waived certain payments. The club plans to contest the decision in another legal forum, arguing that Mbappé had publicly and privately agreed to relinquish bonuses tied to his reintegration into the team.

The conflict adds to the strained relationship between PSG and Mbappé, which worsened during his final season. After PSG offered him their most lucrative contract ever in 2022, tensions rose when the club failed to deliver on promises to sign key players. Mbappé also took issue with his contract extension, which included an option for an additional year that he later declined, leaving PSG at risk of losing him without compensation.

The situation escalated in the summer of 2023 when Mbappé was excluded from a preseason tour and PSG sought to sell him to avoid losing him for free. He refused a €300 million offer from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, eventually returning to the PSG lineup after talks between the parties. However, the saga concluded with his move to Real Madrid, leaving unresolved financial disputes between the player and his former club.

Malawi Farmers Turn Overripe Bananas Into Profitable Wine Amid Climate Challenges

Emily Nkhana, a small-scale farmer in northern Malawi’s Karonga district, once discarded overripe bananas as waste due to extreme heat ripening them too quickly. Now, she and other farmers have found a solution: turning the surplus into banana wine.

Previously, rising water levels from Lake Malawi washed away banana plantations, forcing farmers to relocate to higher, hotter grounds where temperatures can reach 42°C. The heat caused bananas to ripen and spoil rapidly, leaving farmers with significant losses.

Faced with these climate challenges, Nkhana and a group of women formed the Twitule Cooperative Group, which now produces banana wine as a means of economic survival. “We discovered how to make banana wine,” Nkhana said, as she worked at the cooperative’s processing plant.

The wine-making process is simple: overripe bananas are peeled, cut, and mixed with sugar, yeast, raisins, water, and lemons. The mixture is left to ferment for several weeks, transforming into a sweet, fruity wine with 13% alcohol content.

Banana wine has gained popularity in Malawi, selling for $3 a bottle at local markets, including in the capital, Lilongwe, and Blantyre. "It’s always sold out," said Tennyson Gondwe, CEO of Community Savings and Investment Promotion (Comsip), which trained the women in wine production.

For Nkhana and the cooperative, wine production has transformed their lives. "Some of us built houses, bought livestock, and can now afford decent meals," she said. Producing 20-50 litres of wine a month, the group aims to expand and is seeking approval from the Malawi Bureau of Standards for export.

As interest in banana wine grows, Nkhana and her colleagues are optimistic about its future. “People are curious,” she said, “and when they try it, they’re surprised by how good it is.”

The case, which dates back two years, involves demands of $14.3 million from the France midfielder, with the group allegedly using intimidation tactics. The five other accused men, identified by their first names, face charges of extortion, attempted extortion with violence, abduction, and conspiracy.

Paul Pogba revealed during the investigation that he had already paid around $70,000 to the group, which included his brother. The case first came to light in August 2022 after Mathias Pogba posted a video threatening to reveal "explosive" information about Paul, his agent Rafaela Pimenta, and fellow player Kylian Mbappé.

Mathias Pogba, a former soccer player himself, had a career mainly with lower-tier European teams and was briefly detained during the investigation.

The forum will be officially opened by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Hon. Dr. Dotto Biteko.

Hon. Mwanaidi made this appeal on September 2, 2024, in Dodoma during a press briefing, highlighting the importance of the event. She noted that the national forum will be preceded by district and regional-level forums, providing an opportunity for all NGOs to engage and ensure no organization is left behind.

“The purpose of the regional NGO forums is to share experiences, opportunities, and challenges in the implementation of NGO activities, provide capacity-building training, recognize outstanding organizations, and formulate resolutions to address challenges identified by various stakeholders,” explained Hon. Mwanaidi.

At the national level, the first day of the forum will feature training sessions for Assistant Registrars and Regional NaCoNGO Members, the launch of NGO Coordination Desks within the Private Sector, and joint discussions with private sector stakeholders.

Minister Dr. Gwajima Inaugurates First Women’s Network Conference in Prisons Service

The Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, Hon. Dr. Dorothy Gwajima, has emphasized the importance of mutual dependence between women and men in achieving rapid and sustainable development. She made this statement during the inaugural conference of the Women's Network of the Prisons Service, held on September 2, 2024, in Dodoma.

Minister Dr. Gwajima highlighted that this interdependence stems from the differing roles and responsibilities between men and women across various sectors. This often results in women receiving special encouragement to ensure that their family duties do not hinder their participation in decision-making and nation-building.

"The government recognizes this dynamic, which led to the creation of the 2023 Gender and Women's Development Policy. This policy provides a vision for equality across all development sectors, including education, health, decision-making positions, and the economy," said Minister Dr. Gwajima.

She noted that the policy has established an enabling environment for both women and men to fulfill their roles according to gender-specific needs.

Furthermore, Minister Dr. Gwajima urged the Commissioner General of Prisons to consider incorporating breastfeeding rooms in the new prison infrastructure. This initiative aligns with the government's plan to support the health of children and provide mothers with the tranquility needed to perform their duties effectively.

Minister Dr. Gwajima expressed her satisfaction with the establishment of the Women's Network of the Prisons Service, viewing it as a testament to the efforts of her ministry. It also reflects how government policies and guidelines aimed at achieving gender equality across various sectors are being practically implemented.

Commissioner of Correctional Services and Chairperson of the National Women’s Network of the Prisons Service, Bertha Minde, stated that the network’s goals include enhancing work efficiency, recognizing the contributions of women in the service, promoting gender equality in duty execution, and assisting the community in reducing crime.

Japan Faces Rice Shortage Amidst Policy, Weather, and Tourism Challenges

Japan is currently grappling with a significant rice shortage, driven by a convergence of government policies, extreme weather conditions, and an unexpected surge in tourism.

For years, Japan’s acreage reduction policy, designed to stabilize rice prices by limiting production, has inadvertently made the country susceptible to supply disruptions. This vulnerability has been starkly exposed this year as severe heatwaves and typhoons have dramatically reduced rice yields, exacerbating the existing shortfall.

The situation has been further compounded by an increase in demand from both domestic consumers and the unprecedented influx of foreign tourists. Supermarkets across the country are witnessing empty shelves, leading to widespread panic buying as consumers rush to secure rice supplies.

As Japan navigates this crisis, the government is under pressure to reassess its agricultural policies and take measures to ensure food security amidst changing climatic and economic conditions.

Government Allocates TZS 31 Billion for Agricultural Research to Address Sector Challenges

In a significant move to bolster the agricultural sector, the Minister of Agriculture, Hussein Bashe, announced that the government has allocated TZS 31 billion for the 2024/2025 fiscal year. The funds are designated to empower the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) in addressing various challenges facing the agricultural sector.

Minister Bashe stated that the allocated funds will enable TARI to renovate and construct infrastructure that will facilitate modern farming for farmers. This initiative also includes the procurement of advanced equipment and the provision of training for laboratory experts and researchers. The training is aimed at equipping them with the skills to develop technologies that will help tackle climate change, particularly in improving soil health and developing drought-resistant, pest, and disease-resistant seeds.

Additionally, Minister Bashe emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture, through TARI, has been conducting investigations into the challenges facing the production of food and cash crops, particularly soil health, diseases, and pests. The aim is to identify potential risks for the relevant season and provide advice to agricultural stakeholders on how to mitigate these risks.

Minister Bashe made these remarks in Parliament, Dodoma, in response to a question from Special Seats MP Neema Mwandabila, who inquired about the government's strategy for researching agricultural and cash crops to identify seasonal challenges.

This strategic allocation and focus on research are expected to significantly enhance the capacity of Tanzania's agricultural sector to adapt to emerging challenges and ensure sustainable production.

Chidimma Adetshina Crowned Miss Universe Nigeria After Controversy in South Africa

Chidimma Adetshina, 23, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria following a contentious attempt to compete in Miss South Africa last month. Born in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a South African mother, Adetshina withdrew from the Miss South Africa competition after facing opposition from some South Africans, including a government minister, due to her Nigerian roots.

"I just want everyone to know that this crown is not just a crown of beauty, it is going to unite us as one. I am really proud and grateful that I am going to represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe, and I know we are going to win," Adetshina expressed to the audience, emphasizing the unifying power of her win.

The controversy surrounding Adetshina's participation in Miss South Africa highlighted the ongoing xenophobia faced by Nigerians in South Africa, which has at times escalated into violence and attacks on Nigerian businesses.

Now, as Miss Universe Nigeria, Adetshina will represent her country at the global Miss Universe pageant in Mexico this November, carrying with her a message of unity and resilience.

South African President Ramaphosa Arrives in Beijing for 2024 FOCAC Summit

Early Monday morning, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived in Beijing to participate in the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, set to take place on September 4-5, 2024. The summit, themed "Collaborating to Promote Modernization and Establish a High-Level China-Africa Community for a Shared Future," is the largest diplomatic event hosted by China in recent years.

South Africa, the continent's second-largest economy and a BRICS member, plays a pivotal role in the China-Africa relationship. In 2023, trade between China and South Africa reached $55.6 billion, accounting for roughly 20% of China's total trade with Africa.

Siyabonga Cyprian Cwele, South Africa's ambassador to China, highlighted the vast opportunities for Chinese investment in South Africa, particularly in the new energy sector, digital transformation, and technology-driven industries. "We need to transform all of our production, from agriculture to health and government, to be digitized," Cwele emphasized.

Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1998, China and South Africa have maintained robust high-level exchanges and mutual support on key issues. The upcoming FOCAC summit will further strengthen this partnership, with several African leaders, including African Union Commission Chairman Moussa Faki Mahamat, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres attending as a special guest.

The summit's opening ceremony on September 5 will feature a keynote address by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The event is expected to yield a strong declaration and a detailed implementation plan, particularly focusing on Africa's industrialization and the continent's Agenda 2063 initiative.

South Africa has been a cornerstone of China-Africa relations, being the first African nation to sign a Belt and Road cooperation memorandum with China in 2015. The country has since integrated the Chinese language into its national education system and recognized September 17 as South African Chinese Language Day.

As the most popular destination for Chinese travelers in Africa and with China being South Africa's top trading partner for 15 consecutive years, the FOCAC summit promises to be a significant milestone in the enduring and vibrant partnership between the two nations.
