The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has appointed Mr. Ronald Tran Ba Huy as its new Country Representative for Tanzania. He officially presented his credentials to the Tanzanian government on September 26, 2024.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mr. Dennis Lazaro Londo, received the credentials on behalf of the government.
“I am honoured to be appointed as the WFP Country Representative in Tanzania,” said Mr. Tran Ba Huy. He reaffirmed WFP’s commitment to supporting Tanzania by ensuring vulnerable communities have access to nutritious food, empowering smallholder farmers, and investing in climate adaptation and emergency preparedness. He also highlighted WFP’s goal of working with Tanzania to enhance its potential as a regional hub for food production and logistics.
