Minister for Culture, Arts, and Sports Dr. Damas Ndumbaro announced that the third National Cultural Festival in Songea will bring significant opportunities for residents of Ruvuma and nearby regions. The festival, set for September 20 to 23, 2024, at Majimaji Stadium, will boost business, showcase traditional products, and support local industries such as food, accommodation, and transportation.
The event will feature exhibitions of traditional dances and foods from across mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar on September 21 and 22, with competitions and prizes for the best performances. A special showcase will highlight the cultural significance of the Kanga, demonstrating its uses in carrying children, as headscarves, and for conveying messages.
In addition to cultural displays, the festival will include training sessions, seminars, and discussions on the Cultural, Arts, and Sports sectors. There will also be a short jog on the morning of September 21, involving jogging clubs from all regions, followed by a meeting to discuss their development.
