Minister Ridhiwani Kikwete Distributes Capital Equipment Worth Over 90 Million Tanzanian Shillings to Youth Groups in Sengerema District

 

The Minister for State, Prime Minister’s Office, Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disabilities, Ridhiwani Kikwete, has distributed capital equipment worth over TZS 90 million to 16 youth groups in Sengerema District, Mwanza Region.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Minister Ridhiwani highlighted that the equipment provided included sewing machines, incubators for chicks, computers, printers, gas cylinders, stoves, refrigerators, and grinding machines. These items are intended to empower the youth economically and socially.

“The Prime Minister's Office is coordinating and overseeing various initiatives aimed at equipping young people with the necessary skills for the job market, as well as entrepreneurial skills that will enable them to become self-employed and contribute to national development,” said Minister Ridhiwani.

He also emphasized that the Sixth Phase Government, under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, recognizes the critical role of the youth, who represent the nation’s workforce and are a key resource in driving the country's economic growth.

Furthermore, the minister urged young people across the country to take responsibility and actively participate in development activities, seizing economic opportunities to create jobs and become self-reliant.

The Sengerema District Commissioner, Senye Ngaga, assured the minister that the district is committed to continuing its efforts to empower the youth through 10% loans allocated to youth, women, and people with disabilities.

Acting Director of Youth Development, Eliakim Mtawa, revealed that the Prime Minister's Office, in collaboration with UNFPA, had organized a special program for young people, where they received training in entrepreneurship, project initiation and management, life skills, and management of income-generating groups.

One of the beneficiaries, Clement Cosmas, representing the youth groups, expressed gratitude to the Sixth Phase Government for providing the equipment, which he said would help them achieve economic independence. 

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to uplifting the youth through practical support, enabling them to be active participants in Tanzania’s economic transformation.
