Diaspora Urged to Contribute to Tanzania’s Vision 2050

Tanzanian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mhe. Hussein A. Kattanga, has called on Tanzanians living abroad to actively participate in shaping the country's Vision 2050. During a recent Summer Barbecue event hosted by the Tanzanian community in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, Ambassador Kattanga emphasized the importance of diaspora input in ensuring that no Tanzanian group is left behind in the development process.

The event, held on August 10, 2024, aimed to bring together Tanzanians from these states to network, exchange business and job opportunities, and discuss how they can contribute to Tanzania's growth. In his speech, Ambassador Kattanga highlighted the significance of diaspora feedback in the Vision 2050 initiative, encouraging participants to share their views through a specially provided online link.

In addition to discussing the Vision 2050, Ambassador Kattanga urged the community to maintain strong connections and mutual support among themselves. He also encouraged them to take advantage of investment opportunities in Tanzania, such as purchasing homes through the National Housing Corporation (NHC) and investing in stocks for future savings. Furthermore, he reminded them to adhere to local laws in the U.S. to avoid legal issues.

Gaston Mkapa, the Acting Chairman and Vice Chairman of the community organization, also spoke, urging members to maintain unity and solidarity. He stressed the importance of registering their details on the community’s website to help the Tanzanian government and embassies provide better services and support when needed.

This call for diaspora engagement reflects the government's commitment to inclusive development, recognizing the valuable role of Tanzanians abroad in shaping the nation's future.
