A Singaporean man, Tan Xianglong, 37, has been sentenced to three years and ten months in prison for attempting to frame his estranged wife by planting cannabis in her car. Tan intended to get his wife wrongfully arrested, believing the drug quantity would lead to severe charges under Singapore's strict anti-drug laws.
Tan's plan was exposed when a camera in his wife's car captured him placing the drugs. She reported him to the police, who later arrested Tan after failing to find evidence against her. Although Tan initially faced a potential five-year sentence, his term was reduced due to his cooperation and early guilty plea.
Singapore's drug laws are among the toughest in the world, and this case underscores the severe consequences of attempting to misuse them.
