Stella Ludman Maliti, a student from Marian Girls Secondary School, has made Tanzania proud by winning a bronze medal in the 2024 Pan African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO). The event, which took place at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, brought together top-performing students from across the continent.
Stella’s achievement not only highlights Tanzania's presence on the global academic stage but also serves as an inspiration for other girls to pursue studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields without fear. Her success is seen as a significant step forward in encouraging young women to excel in subjects traditionally dominated by men.
The competition was organized by the Tanzania Mathematical Association (CHAHITA) and showcased the talents of young mathematicians from various African countries. Stella's accomplishment is a testament to the growing emphasis on STEM education in Tanzania and the potential of young women to lead in these critical fields.
This achievement is expected to motivate more girls in Tanzania to take up STEM subjects, contributing to a future generation of female leaders in science and technology.
