President Samia Suluhu Hassan, accompanied by leaders and soldiers from various units of the Tanzanian People's Defense Forces (TPDF), participated in a military exercise at Pongwe Msungura, Msata, in Pwani Region. The exercise is part of the celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the TPDF, set to take place on September 1 this year.
The event showcased the strength and readiness of Tanzania's military forces as they conducted various drills, demonstrating their skills and commitment to the nation's defense. President Samia praised the TPDF for its continued dedication, highlighting the army's professionalism, discipline, patriotism, and unwavering readiness to protect the country.
"We continue to take pride in our brave and capable army, which exhibits the highest levels of expertise, discipline, patriotism, and readiness in defending our nation," President Samia remarked during the exercise.
The military exercise is one of several events planned to honor the TPDF's 60 years of service since its establishment. As the anniversary approaches, the TPDF remains committed to safeguarding Tanzania's sovereignty and ensuring peace and stability across the country.
The TPDF was founded on September 1, 1964, following the union of the Tanganyika Rifles and Zanzibar forces. Over the decades, the TPDF has played a pivotal role in maintaining peace within Tanzania and participating in international peacekeeping missions.
