The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, has emphasized that the annual Kizimkazi Festival in the South Unguja Region is a significant opportunity for businesses and tourism on the islands.
Speaking today, August 18, 2024, during the opening ceremony of the festival at the Kizimkazi Dimbani grounds, Dr. Mwinyi noted that the event has attracted numerous visitors from within and outside the country, presenting a valuable opportunity for Zanzibar’s tourism and commerce sectors
He highlighted the substantial increase in both tourists and local residents attending the festival, creating a platform for businesses to showcase and sell their products.
"I have been informed that all hotels in South Unguja are fully booked, which is a clear indication of the high turnout of tourists during this festival. This is an opportunity for you to expand your capacity to host guests and tourists so that you can benefit from the Kizimkazi Festival," said Dr. Mwinyi.
The Kizimkazi Festival, originally known as 'Samia Day,' was established in 2016 by President Samia Suluhu Hassan with the aim of bringing together residents of the South Unguja Region to discuss the development of their region. In 2020, the event was rebranded as the Kizimkazi Festival.
