President Samia Suluhu Hassan has reiterated her commitment to advocating for clean cooking energy across Africa, an agenda she initiated and continues to champion. Speaking during the Kizimkazi Festival in Makunduchi, Shehia of Tasani, South Unguja, Zanzibar, she emphasized her ongoing efforts to secure funding globally to enable African women to access clean cooking energy. She highlighted the significant strides Tanzania has made in rural electrification, aiming to provide electricity swiftly to women in these areas.
During the event, President Samia inaugurated the Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan Preparatory School, further emphasizing her commitment to education and development in the region.
Additionally, President Samia received a cheque worth TZS 143 million aimed at supporting horticulture farmers. The funds were contributed by various organizations, including the Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) with TZS 63 million, the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) with TZS 50 million, and the Workers’ Compensation Fund (WCF) with TZS 30 million.
The President also awarded certificates to 720 graduates who completed various economic empowerment training programs as part of the Kizimkazi Festival 2024. These graduates included farmers, livestock keepers, fishermen, tourists, artists, and entrepreneurs, reflecting the diverse and impactful nature of the festival's initiatives in promoting economic self-reliance.
