Manchester United have agreed to sign Uruguay midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain for €50 million (£42.29 million), with potential additional payments of €10 million (£8.46 million). Ugarte is expected to undergo a medical in Manchester later today.
The transfer coincides with Scott McTominay’s impending €30 million (£25.37 million) move to Napoli. McTominay, who made 32 Premier League appearances for United last season, will travel to Italy for his medical on Tuesday.
Ugarte, who joined PSG just a year ago, has been a key target for United throughout the summer. His arrival will mark United’s fifth signing of the transfer window, pushing their summer spending to over £190 million.
In a separate development, United are in exploratory talks with Chelsea regarding a potential move for Raheem Sterling, as the club looks to further bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
