The Tanzania Music Awards (TMA) committee has officially begun announcing the nominees for this year's awards, starting with three major categories: Best Male Artist of the Year, Best Taarab Song of the Year, and Best Song in East, South, and West Africa.
For Best Taarab Song of the Year, the nominees include:
- Watu na Viatu by Malkia Layla Rashid
- Hatuachani by Amina Kidevu
- Bila Yeye Sijiwezi by Mwinyi Mkuu
- Sina Wema by Mwasiti Mbwana
- DSM Sweetheart by Salha
In the category of Best Song in East, South, and West Africa, the contenders are:
- People by Libianca
- American Love by Qing Madi
- Lonely at the Top by Asake
- Unavailable by Davido ft. Musa Keys
- Mnike by Tyler ICU
For Best Male Artist of the Year, the nominees are:
- Marioo for Shisha
- Diamond Platnumz for Shuu
- Harmonize for Single Again
- Alikiba for Sumu
- Jay Melody for Nitasema
The awards committee, chaired by David Minja and Vice Chair Seven Mosha, announced that additional categories will be revealed gradually, with voting set to officially open on September 3.
The TMA promises to celebrate the best of Tanzanian and African music, recognizing the outstanding contributions of artists across various genres and regions.
