Premier League Returns: Manchester United Triumphs in Season Opener

Joshua Zirkzee couldn't have asked for a better debut at Old Trafford. The young forward was named Player of the Match after scoring the decisive goal in Manchester United's 1-0 win over Fulham. Speaking to Sky after the game, a delighted Zirkzee expressed his joy at marking his first home game with a goal. "To win here on my first home game and to grab a goal, it couldn’t be better! I’ve been told that scoring at the Stretford End is one of the best feelings at Manchester United, so I’m blessed to experience it in my first game."

Zirkzee, who was full of praise for the warm welcome he's received from his teammates, described his debut as a dream come true. "It’s an amazing feeling … I can’t explain it, it’s just very nice … the squad is very nice, people are very warm, it’s a great team, we want to achieve something great … it’s all good vibes!"

The match itself was a tightly contested affair, with both teams having their chances. Fulham put up a strong fight and nearly capitalized on a well-executed pass from Andreas Pereira. However, it was United who found a way through in the closing stages, reminiscent of their glory days under Sir Alex Ferguson.

As Old Trafford celebrated the hard-fought victory, there was a mix of relief and joy among the fans. While not a classic, the win could signal the beginning of a successful season under Erik ten Hag, as United look to reclaim their Premier League dominance. Fulham, despite the loss, can take heart from their performance, which bodes well for their campaign ahead.

Zirkzee’s Player of the Match award will surely take pride of place on his shelf at home, as he continues to take it day by day and work hard for his new club.
