Unlocking East Africa's Future: VP Mpango Urges Investment in Youth Education and Health for Regional Growth

Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango has emphasized that the East African Community (EAC) can leverage its large population, particularly its youth, for development by investing more in children's education and health.

Speaking in Arusha while opening the EAC Regional Education Conference and the African Union's Education Year 2024 celebrations, Dr. Mpango stressed that the increasing population in East African countries highlights the need for greater financial resources to meet the demands for quality education and healthcare.

He noted that the growing population in East Africa could be a blessing, as the region continues to have a youthful and skilled workforce capable of driving economic growth, provided that these human resources are fully utilized.

According to World Bank statistics, Africa has seen positive outcomes in education compared to other continents, yet education in Sub-Saharan Africa remains underfunded.
